Families with Children Retreat

This family retreat has been carefully designed by leading First Responder Treatment Clinicians, Public Safety Peer Support Professionals, and Child and Adolescent specialists to provide family and youth/adolescent activities and experiences to foster insight, education, healing and resilience enhancement for our first responder families.

This retreat will help create healthier families through the process of guided age appropriate learning activities and therapeutic interventions. We recognize  the need to create space for children and significant others to work through the secondary or vicarious traumatic stress associated with being a public safety/EMS family.

Whether a parent has had a critical incident, accident/injury or a career filled with chronic cumulative stress, the children and  significant others are negatively impacted without an understanding of what may be wrong or how to correct it. Our team of youth and family experts will meet your family where it is and work together to help improve communication, trust and connectedness by weaving play and fun into strong messages about emotional health.

★  This 4 day / 3 night retreat is specially designed for public safety families and is held at our Eagle Creek Retreat Center in Idyllwild, California.
★  In this tranquil setting, we will practice balance, decompression, stress management techniques as a family unit while having tons of fun!
★  Childcare services available for families with very young children.
★  Hikes, play, equine assisted therapy, family, group, and individual counseling sessions.

Nestled in the San Jacinto Mountains in Idyllwild, California, our retreat center is the ideal setting to decompress, reflect and recharge. Our modern, yet rustic retreat center can accommodate your group and includes lodging, meals, workshops and activities. Eagle Creek is nestled among majestic pines, hiking trails and natural wildlife habitats. Convenient travel from Orange County John Wayne Airport (90 min), or via the Palm Springs airport (60 minutes).

First Responder Wellness is a comprehensive inpatient/outpatient behavioral wellness treatment program exclusively for first responders. We treat post traumatic stress, alcohol, addiction, anxiety and depression.

The Counseling Team International provides culturally competent short-term counseling, critical incident debriefings, training and pre-employment psychological testing.
