Andy McCurdy, Deputy Chief

Deputy Chief Andy McCurdy has been working in law enforcement since 1991. Andy started as a Community Service Officer in California before becoming a Police Officer in Washington state. After 23 years with the King County WA Sheriff’s Office, Andy became the Deputy Police Chief for the city of Sumner WA in 2021. Andy has worked as a Patrol Officer, Task Force Detective, Field Training Officer, Master Police Officer, Special Assault Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Internal Investigations Sergeant, Advanced Training Sergeant, Police Chief, and now as Deputy Police Chief. Andy was also Peer Support Team Leader for thirteen years and Administrative Review Team (Force Investigations) Team Leader for eleven years. Andy has a Masters of Education in Learning and Technology and has taught and consulted locally, regionally, and internationally on a variety of topics including leadership, investigative interviewing, use of force, procedural justice, trauma-informed practices, and health and wellness since 2004.
